The project represents the elimination of a bottleneck on a part of the common route of the existing and planned line of the second track. This measure was excluded from the comprehensive project of the second track and was carried out specifically to increase the permeability and transport capacity of the existing track until the construction of the second track on the entire section between Divača and Koper (or ENP Dekani).
Measures implemented within the framework of this investment:
- construction of 1.2 km of track between the Koper freight station and the Dekani ENP area,
- measures to increase the power supply of the electric rolling stock network and
- optimization of railway transport technology, which enables the maximum capacity of the existing track.
The pull-out track is co-financed from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). €14,187,107 in grants have been approved for work on the retractable track. For the realization of the investment, 5 implementation contracts were signed for individual lots with a total value of EUR 14,959,571.24 including VAT. Construction work began in June 2016 and ended in 2019.
