Selected tenderer for GSM-R installations on Second track

2TDK has successfully completed the negotiations and selected the tenderer for the works “GSM-R system on the new line Divača – Koper”. The tender, valued at EUR 11 937 846 excluding VAT, was submitted by Kontron, d.o.o. The decision to select the tenderer was also confirmed yesterday by the Supervisory Board of 2TDK.

The GSM-R system is a wireless radio communication system which, through base stations and repeaters installed along railway lines, ensures high-quality, uninterrupted and reliable communication between the vehicle on the line and the staff managing the traffic, as well as all other communication between the staff directly or indirectly involved in the operation of the railway traffic and the maintenance of the railway infrastructure. As such, it is part of one of the basic structural subsystems of the infrastructure, namely the Control-Command and Signalling subsystem.

The route of the second track includes 11 base stations at six locations and 40 repeaters. The new GSM-R network on the line from Divača to Koper will be installed both on the open part of the line and in tunnels.

The installation of the GSM-R system will be carried out in parallel with the implementation of Lot 3, and the signature of the contract means that 2TDK is following the planned dynamics for the implementation of the works. The project timeline foresees that all works will be completed by the end of 2025, with debugging and trial operation taking place in the first half of 2026.
