The rails for part of the Second track have been delivered
Along the current railway line passing Dekani, the rails delivered by the contractor for the first part of the Second track line from Koper to the Vinjan viaduct are already there.
One rail is 120 metres long and 108 rails of the 60E1 system have been delivered so far. The weight of the rails is 60 kilograms per metre and they are suitable for freight trains with high axle loads and also for high-speed trains.
A small part of the second track route will be laid on conventional shaft track, i.e. on the open part of the route or 15% of the track. However, 85% of the second track route (in tunnels and viaducts), totalling 23 kilometres, will be laid on rigid track. Although these are two different types and methods of track construction, the same rails are used for both.
