Work on the last lot is already underway
The work on second track is divided into three major lots: the first two comprise the main construction works, while the third and final lot comprises the railway systems. Work on this strand is already underway on the ground.
Since the beginning of August, cable ducting has been carried out along the siding up to Koper station. Similar work is now starting in Divača.
A section of the open line from the track end of the extraction track to the Škofije tunnel (T8) is also ready, where the railway contractor will start the construction of the track’s tampon layer. The paving of the drainage ditch is also being carried out along this route. You can see what the area looked like last week in the video, where you can see that the rails have already been deposited along the track.
The contractor for the works on Lot 3 has also started to lay the test field for the track on rigid subgrade. Rigid track will be installed on 85% of the length of the Divača-Coper second railway line, while shaft track is planned for the remaining part. The test field is used to verify the technological design and working conditions, or to simulate the conditions that workers will encounter during the actual implementation of the track on rigid subgrade in the tunnels and on the part of the open track (viaducts).
