About the viaduct
The Gabrovica Viaduct runs under the Črni Kal Motorway Viaduct, both designed by the renowned engineer Marjan Pipenbaher, and are therefore quite similar in style. The Gabrovica viaduct's method of construction by ramming is an innovative technique whereby prestressed reinforced concrete elements, which are manufactured in segments in the workshop, are pushed forward via support columns. This advanced technology allows builders to progressively construct the viaduct without the use of traditional formwork supports, which helps projects to be completed more quickly and safely.
