The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia hosted a professional conference titled “BIM and the Digital Future of Construction: From Modeling to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics,” in which 2TDK also participated. The focus was on BIM, artificial intelligence, digital twins, robotization, and other digital solutions that are transforming the way construction projects are planned and executed.
At the roundtable discussion titled “The Digital Future of the Slovenian Economy—Does Slovenia Have a Clear Vision?,” Franc Švegl from 2TDK presented his experiences with using BIM in the construction of the second Divača–Koper rail track. He highlighted structured and integrated digital management of the vast amount of information generated by such a complex infrastructure project as one of the key advantages.
“The second track was a great learning experience for us. We developed and refined many things as we went along, as we encountered new situations and needs. As a result, we now have significantly more knowledge and experience that we’ll be able to apply to the construction of the parallel left-hand track, and we’ll be able to do many things better right from the start,” said Švegl.
He also emphasized that the purpose of digitization is not merely to create BIM models that are as detailed as possible, but above all to make effective use of the information they contain. “We can have very comprehensive BIM models, but if we don’t know what we’re going to do with all that data and how we’re going to use it, their potential isn’t fully realized. It’s crucial that we know in advance what data we need and what purpose it will serve.”
