2TDK presented the Second Track project at an international conference

10. December 2025

The company 2TDK attended the international conference “Danube Region Transport Days 2025” in Ljubljana, which this year was held under the slogan “Road and rail transport – co-creating a more connected Danube region.” The event focused on the challenges of modern transport infrastructure and highlighted the importance of cooperation between different transport sectors.

At the conference, which was dedicated to knowledge exchange, networking among key stakeholders, and the presentation of best practices in the transport sector of the Danube region, 2TDK participated in a session focused on projects delivering tangible results.

Within its presentation, the company showcased the new Divača–Koper railway line, one of the most demanding infrastructure projects in the region. Special emphasis was placed on innovative engineering approaches, challenging tunnelling works, geological risk management, and the exceptionally high environmental standards that the project must comply with, as part of the line is being built within a landscape park. During construction, particular attention was also given to preserving karst phenomena discovered during excavation works. Approximately 90% of documented caves were safely separated from the tunnel, meaning that the cave spaces outside the excavation zone were preserved in a largely natural state. This approach represents the strictest environmental monitoring and protection of karst features in any major infrastructure project in Slovenia to date.

The presentation of the new railway line, which is in its final phase of construction, attracted significant interest among participants, as the Second Track project is considered a reference example of how modern infrastructure can combine technical complexity, economic importance, and a responsible approach to the environment.
