Pile foundation works in the Glinščica Valley have begun

A drilling rig has begun installing piles in the area of the gallery in front of the Lokev tunnel (T1 Koper main tube). Once a pile is drilled, a reinforcement cage is inserted into the borehole, which is then filled with concrete. Access to the main tube from the Koper side is now possible through the service tube.

To prevent further ground movements, piling is a key initial stabilisation measure. Ten piles will be installed, each 28 metres deep and 120 cm in diameter.

On the slope of the T1 Koper tunnel above both tunnel tubes, special geodetic equipment has also been installed to monitor ground movements in the area of a potential landslide.
