Step by step into the depths: Construction of Well V1
To stabilize the area above the T1 Koper portal in the Glinščica Valley, shaft construction is proceeding at an accelerated pace. Work on well V1 began with excavation, which poses a particular construction challenge due to the very limited space in the Glinščica Valley. All excavated material had to be lifted by crane over the gallery between the main tunnel and the Glinščica viaduct, as trucks do not have direct access to the well construction site.
The photos show the reinforcement being tied around the entire circumference of the well. Once the reinforcement is complete, formwork will be installed and concrete poured, creating the first concrete ring. Once the concrete has cured, excavation will continue downward, and the process will be repeated until the final depth is reached.
Wells are a kind of vertical tunnel that is created gradually, step by step, through the excavation and construction of individual concrete rings.
