2TDK is closely monitoring the situation of the workers in Orehek

We are also following the situation with great concern, particularly regarding the veracity of the workers’ accounts of what is happening at the Orehek camp. To this end, we have also met with representatives of Yapi Merkezi, who have assured us that they are addressing the situation with each worker individually; they have already found an appropriate solution for the majority of workers, and agreements regarding their employment status have already been reached.

We emphasize that 2TDK has no direct authority over the personnel management of construction contractors; nevertheless, we expect the Turkish employer to ensure decent living and working conditions in accordance with the labor laws of the Republic of Slovenia, international standards, and contractual obligations, as they are bound to comply with labor law by the construction contract signed with 2TDK.

We also note that as soon as we received the first reports of the situation at the Orehek camp, we contacted Yapi Merkezi and demanded official explanations and immediate action should the allegations prove to be true; therefore, we will continue to actively monitor developments. Should the competent authorities require the cooperation of 2TDK, we will provide all necessary assistance.
