Firefighters from Sežana have received a new fire truck
2TDK has delivered a special dual-mode fire truck to the Sežana Fire Department, which will be used primarily for emergency response in railway tunnels along the new Divača–Koper line. It is one of the most modern vehicles of its kind, capable of traveling on both roads and railroad tracks, and ensuring a rapid and effective response in the event of emergencies.
The procurement of this vehicle is part of a comprehensive safety system on the second track. The need for two specialized dual-purpose vehicles for the fire departments in Koper and Sežana was identified as early as the project planning phase. The vehicle is equipped with an additional railway undercarriage, tanks for water and foam, a system for detecting hazardous gases and elevated temperatures, a thermal imaging camera, and numerous other specialized pieces of equipment for firefighting and rescue operations in tunnels. Another key feature of the vehicle is its air reservoir, which enables the safe evacuation of a six-member firefighting team in challenging conditions.
Matej Oset, CEO of 2TDK, emphasized during the handover that the vehicle represents an important part of the safety system for the new railway connection: “Above all, may this vehicle provide an additional level of safety and ensure that we are prepared even for the most challenging situations. We hope it will primarily be used for training, drills, and readiness checks, and that it will never have to be used for actual interventions.”
