Independent European audit confirms proper implementation of the Second Track project
The European Climate, Infrastructure, and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) has completed its audit of the Divača–Koper Second Track project. The auditors found no ineligible costs, irregularities in public procurement, or other findings that would require financial corrections or recommendations for improvements.
CINEA has completed the audit for the 2022–2023 period. Under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF 2016), the European Union is co-financing research, design, and construction of access roads and structures to bridge the Glinščica Valley, as well as the relocation of the old railway line in Divača. The auditors reviewed the eligibility of costs, the functioning of internal controls, the implementation of public procurement procedures, and the project’s compliance with the provisions of the Grant Agreement.
The audit confirmed that the financial management of the project was carried out in accordance with European Union requirements. The conclusion of the audit serves as an important confirmation that 2TDK manages European funds responsibly and transparently, and that the project is proceeding in accordance with the highest standards of oversight and management.
The successfully completed audit joins a series of positively concluded audits of the Second Track project. In March of this year, the European Court of Auditors also concluded its audit without any findings, and neither the Budget Supervision Office of the Republic of Slovenia nor the 2017 CEF audit identified any irregularities in the project. Several consecutive independent audits confirm that the project is proceeding in accordance with the highest standards of management, transparency, and responsible use of public and European funds.
