9. April 2026

Yesterday, the construction sites of the Second Track were visited by representatives of the Czech railway infrastructure manager Správa železnic, who were primarily interested in the Divača–Koper railway project as an example of best practice in managing and implementing large-scale infrastructure investments.

The Czech delegation was also particularly interested in safety aspects related to the construction and operation of one of the largest infrastructure projects in Slovenia.

During the visit, participants were introduced to the technical characteristics of the project, the progress of construction, and the key safety protocols implemented on site. During the inspection of tunnel T8, the Vinjan and Gabrovica viaducts, and the track deviation in Divača, the Czech delegation was presented with solutions ensuring worker safety and construction process control, as well as the specific challenges of building in karst terrain.

The technical lead of the visit was Peter Pušnik, Head of Project Section 3, while mag. Nina Kolenc, Head of the Finance and Accounting Department, also participated and presented the financial framework of the project and investment oversight.

Representatives of Správa železnic expressed interest on the margins of the visit in exchanging best practices, particularly in the areas of safety and management of large railway projects, and emphasised the importance of international cooperation in the development of modern railway infrastructure.
