Completion of track laying, followed by test runs
Tomorrow, the final concreting of the slab track on the open section of the route between the Beka tunnel (T2) and the Gabrovica viaduct will be carried out. This will complete the construction of the slab track, which runs for 23 kilometres between Divača and Koper.
After the track is laid, the line will become operational for test runs. Between 9 and 11 March, trial runs are planned on the new Divača–Koper railway line. Since this is a completely new railway with modern engineering solutions such as slab track and transition sections between slab track and ballasted track, such testing is considered necessary.
The tests will include verification of track passability through gradual increases in speed and assessment of track stability. In the phase prior to obtaining the operational and usage permit, the contractor will also carry out further measurements and load tests.
The slab track was installed by the Slovenian company Železniško gradbeno podjetje Ljubljana (ŽGP), which implemented the RHEDA 2000 system on this project—the most widely used type of slab track in the world. This is the first time the company has installed such a system on a longer section, thereby gaining important reference experience for future complex infrastructure projects in Slovenia and abroad.
