Concrete pouring for the final span in the T2 main tunnel has been completed
The contractors responsible for the main construction work have completed the concrete pouring for the 36-meter-long bridge structure that spans the largest open cut on the second-track route, Cave No. 80, in the main tunnel.
The concrete pouring took approximately 12 hours; the contractors required 450 m³ of concrete, which means that the concrete was delivered by approximately 50 concrete mixer trucks.
Concreting is the final phase of the bridge construction; first, the construction pit was excavated to build the bridge structure, then the supports holding up the arch structure were erected. Once both supports were in place, construction of the reinforced concrete arch structure began. The arch structure must span a distance of 36 meters and ensure adequate stability.
In the service tunnel, excavation work is currently underway in cave No. 66, while exploratory boreholes have already been drilled for cave No. 80. Based on laboratory tests, the designers have analyzed the geotechnical model for the bridge and have already prepared the detailed design drawings.
