Construction of an electrical substation along the route of the second track
An electric power supply station (ENP) is being built before the Beka Tunnel (T2) from the direction of Koper. Such stations are crucial for supplying electric trains with power, as they convert electrical energy from the public grid to a voltage suitable for the railway system, which is then fed into the traction network and used by trains for electric traction.
Several power supply stations need to be built along the railway lines; for a 3 kV DC traction system, this is typically every 20–30 km or even more frequently, as is the case on the Divača–Koper line, where power requirements are significantly higher due to the gradient from Koper toward Divača. Three substations will handle the electrification of the second Divača–Koper track. In addition to the existing substations in Divača and Dekani, which require minor refurbishment and modernization, a new substation in Črni Kal is under construction, which will have the same specifications as the two existing ones. The new Črni Kal substation and the traction network will be equipped, in addition to other necessary operational equipment, with remote control systems and connected to the Control Center in Postojna.
