The final rails have been fixed

3. March 2026

The final track connection was carried out in the Glinščica Valley. The track from Divača to Koper is now fully connected, meaning the railway line is operational. This enables the start of test runs.

On the Second Track route, a total of 27.1 kilometres of track had to be laid, of which 23 kilometres consist of slab track, while the remaining section is conventional ballasted track. In certain sections, a special elastic system was also installed beneath the track. These elements act as vibration dampers, absorbing vibrations generated by passing trains and preventing their transmission to the tunnel structure or surrounding buildings. The system is intended to reduce environmental impacts and ensure greater comfort for people living along the railway line.

Construction of the Second Track between Divača and Koper began in 2019 with the building of access roads, while major construction works started in 2021. In 2026, the line became operational for rail traffic, thereby entering the final phase of the project.
